Evolutionary allies essay

Well, my new essay - Evolutionary allies - is up on Frank's Integral World website, dfor anyone who is interested. It marks an official change of policy for me regarding my position in the Integral Movement; from critic to collaboration. I don't in any way regret the critiques I wrote; in fact they were and are necessary to distinguish my position, and to show that the Integral Movement isn't limited to the mainstream Integral (or Integral sensu stricto - see my previous essay Redefining Integral for more). But having done that, written my criticism, and showed the relevance of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother's teachings (in that they are more inclusive/integrative, more radical, and also encompass the transformation of the world and of matter, not just a world-negating transcendent liberation), I cabn focus now both on cooperation and friendly dialogue, and also on writing my books, which will present a synthesis of esotericism, science, and spirituality, presenting a new worlkdview inspired by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother's teachings and the path of Integral yoga they initiated.

Help

Glad to hear someone is doing the work you are. Comparisons of Wilber and Aurobindo are on the one hand absurd (considering the magnitude of Aurobindo), and on the other… helpful contributions to the myriad new forms needed to untie the egos in the new Integral traditions linked to Wilber. When a person really understands what Aurobindo means by surrender, the ego dissolves like a drop of dew in the morning sun.
Kev, that is so beautifully put! Yes, there is really no point in comparing an avatar (and an integrally realized one at that) with a human intellectual. But I also agree with you and Alan that the naive followers of the Wilber-Cohen branch of the Integral movement needed to be shaken up a bit.
Good to hear, Alan! Though I am clearly subscribing to AQAL and SDI its all about advanced collaboration, evolutionary allies and paradoxical cooperations at all levels and spaces.
However I see authentic esoteric momentum even encapsuled in many seemingly exoteric moves. So I do not see this necessity anymore to use thes verbal expressions. Digital develpments, Environmetalism, Large Scale Global Change and lots of -exoterically labeled change - is always already connected in invisible ways.
Best,
Albert

I love that!

Yes, I agree! But sometimes intellectual definitions are necessary, as long as they don't become too limiting. That's why, having said my piece, I don't want to write any more essays on Wilber criticism, comparing Wilber and SA (and i agree they can't be compared since they pertain to completely different levels, so it is even misleading to try, except at only an intellectual level), or comparing Integral Movement and Integral Yoga. If I were to keep doing so i would be stuck in a rut, and it would also be totally counterproductive
Alan, right you are about intellectual definitions. Even the BM Process is unclear for me in its certificication procedure. And nowhere in public teaching of Andrew Cohen the phenomenology of change is precisely defined and described. to give only two randomly picked examples. I experienced thousands of them in last 10 years.
Others see Don Beck as spiritual head of a movement. There is so much confusion in “integral movement” that I prefer not using this word right time. Maybe its a time of lots of redefinitions and maturing, of doing work in the real world and coming in touch with ones OWN genius.
Too much Buddhas to be killed on the way:):)and the global world of life conditions and real problems needs solutions, ad hoc perspectives and multiple layers of collaboration, innovation and integral reslience of ALL kinds.
Put 1000 people with some sort of integral or evoluitioanry labeling in a bag. You wil get 1000 answers and personal fingerprints.
Take 500 people from CIIS. from AQAL, from SDI, from EE, from any Free-Style Approach…..(put in your favorite one) and do a 3Day Definition Jam…lol (like IBM 2006 in Beijing)what will happen?
Very best for your own endevors,
Albert
Hi Albert!
what do you mean by “BM Process”?
you said “Take 500 people from CIIS. from AQAL, from SDI, from EE, from any Free-Style Approach…..(put in your favorite one) and do a 3Day Definition Jam…lol ”
hehe - very true! :-)
best wishes

Hey Alan, I left a comment on your other blog. Will write to you privately soon. Hope all is going well!
The essence of esoterism is defining and dealing with the actual structures that initiate and cause change- the interior limit of the dynamic organism. The reason why exoterics always go astray is because they never penetrate the layer of the esoteric that informs them of the essence of the systems meaning- that is to cause real change in the individual.
As for the Integral movement, I detect that they have a problem with the eso-exo balance because of their aversion (I think justified) with the existing exo- religions. Therefore what may have to happen is a reworking of the exoteric side of spirituality-religion matrix that involves s healthy balance with the esoteric, and a eschewing of the poisonous ideas (sectarianism, and intolerance for example) that exo religion now manifests. If this is not done I fear the Integrals (whom have very little experience or understanding with healthy exoteric systems, with get lost due to imbalance.
Here is where collaboration can be done by integral thinkers.
Alan, sorry..forgot to define BM:
Big Mind
ad taught by Dennis Genpo Merzel Roshi is a relative new kid on the bloc too. (IN Integral practives). Experiences differ. And I heard Dennis Genpo Roshi is requring KOAN practice for Top Certfiication.
Integral thinking is one thing. The other thing is everybody has to take action in no uncertain ways. In beeing engaged increasingly in Middle East Action I notice strange fragmentations. Terry Patten from Integral Institute is writing an Integral Iran Blog. However no references (and a tenor of disappointment) to SDI design of Integral Solutions as described in:
http://www.che-mideast.org
are made.
What can be done?
Again: My , very personal, limited and subjective feeling is: Everybody should dig very deep in oneself. There maybe no single great formula right now. /See Edge.org Action recently.
And unless one is God the great unifying pattern in this given second of time, in this nunc fluens and nunc stans may not be available.
Maybe this is the core of the word:
Ad-venture
I like the use of the word by Sri Aurobindo and Satprem. And I know Ken Wilber is using too. Beyond all necessary punditry : This is what I feel is unifying all who are acting, breathing and suffering at the edge.
Hi Albert
Big Mind - Genpo Roshi, got it. His name keeps coming up in teh mainstream Integral scene, but i never new who he was. So i looked up Big Mind and his bio on wikipedia. Anyway, thanks for explaining.
I looked up Terry Patten, what he is doing is very inspirational. But his blog doesn't seem to have been updated since June.
Yes, the world is moving towards a crisis point, a singularity, a huge consciousness shift, an evolutionary leap… It is a very unique and special opportunity to be alive and able to work for transformation (as the Buddhists would say, take on a human birth) at this time.
